THE COLONIAL RUBBER CO., LTD.
A GREAT CONCERN.
THE SCOPE OF ITS OPERATION'S
The Auckland branch of this extensive •business is at 40, Albert Street (at the corner of Swanson Street), but the headquarters are at Sydney, other Australian branches being established at Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.
The "works of the C.R.C., -where all their numerous goods are manufactured for general distribution, are at Rushcutters' Bay, Sydney, and, in order to keep pace with their ever-expanding trade, the company is greatly extending its big Sydney factory, and installing large additional plant there. All descriptions of rubber goods are produced at the factory, and the mere najne of the Colonial Rubber Co. is a guarantee of the quality of its wares.
Of what do these goods consist? Well, they embrace so many different lines that it would be impossible, within the limits of our space, to describe half of them, but rubber tyres, solid and pneumatic, are among those deserving of special mention. These tyres, so well known under their trade name of " Colo," are in use everywhere. They come in all sorts of sizes, from the heavy article adapted for the cumbrous motor-truck to the little circlet of rubber that would fit a toy perambulator. Another specialty of this company is rubber hose for every conceivable purpose, including acid hose, air-brake and signal hose, air-drill hose,. boiler wash-out hose, brewers' hose, chemical engine hose, coke hose, conducting hose, corrugated tender hose, delivery hose, dredging hose, engine hose, gas hose, garden hose, hotwater hose, hydraulic hose, mill hose, motor connection hose, oil hose, paint hose, pneumatic hose, spray-pump Lose, steam hose, suction hose, tanners' hose, vacuum "Lose, vinegar hose, and wine hose. The company also makes a feature of supplying surgical tubing for hospital use. Another of its activities is in re-rubbering all kinds of rollers—printers' rollers, leather-workers' rollers, wool-washers' rollers, pa per-makers' rollers, laundry rollers, and typewriting rollers, and it supplies rubber parts for all classes of milkingmachines, and also parts for separators. Yet another specialty of this busy concern is the supplying of the ebonite and vulcanite eoods required by electricians, and the C.R.C. also supplies large quantities of raw rubber fbr various purposes, especially for vulcanising, and, it does a large trade in steam packings and jointings, and also in asbestos goods. To revert to the famous " Colo " tyres, it is worthy of note that the company guarantees all pneumatic footer-tyres hearing their name and serial number to be free froni defects in both material and workmanship. It is industrial concerns such as this that give a large amount of employment, one way and another, and cause money to circulate freely that may truly be said to helo the country in which they are located and assist in itsfe growth and development. It should be added that the C.R.C. are Government contractors.
