NEW RATES PROPOSED. ' WHEAT, WOOL, AND MEAT. ! Australian and N.Z. Cable Ansociation. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Dec. 18. j The Ways and Means Committee of the | House of Representatives agreed to protective tariff rates, which will be em- | bodied in a Bill to be presented on Tuesday. The principal duties proposed are: — Wheat.—so cents a bushel. Corn.—ls cents a bushel. Flour.—2o per cent, ad valorem. Wool.—Greasy, 15 cents a pound ; scoured, 20 cents a pound. Mutton and Lamb.—24 cents a pound- i Cattle.—3o per cent, ad valorem. Sheep (under one year old). —One dollar a head. Soybean Oil. —20 cents a gallon.
