PHENOMENON OF THE SKY.

j A strange phenomenon was observed at j sunrise by Mr. Sam. A. Brown, of Cleve- | don, last Thursday, the iirsz, sunlight j striking his house from the north. The . morning was very dull and hazv, and the j eastern sky wa s very darkly clouded, but I there was a small * break in the clouds i towards the north. At 4.50 a.m. the house | got quite light, he states, and the sun j seemed to be shining in as it does just j after sunrise, only the position cf the ! sunlight was as from a sun in the north ■ instead of the east. The light was strong j enough to cause a shadow in the usual way. The cause apparently was a reflec- | tion off a solid-looking block of cloud just j in the break of the lower clouds.
