RIDER AND CART COLLIDE.

"WAIHI, Thursday.

A serious collision occurred at the corner of Mueller and Kenny Streets late yesterday afternoon, when a grocer's cart driven by a youth named Pascoe ran into a horse ridden by a boy named C. Painton. The offside shaft of the cart struck the boy's horse, penetrating the animal's ribs. The rider was thrown, and fell striking his head on the road, being considerably dazed and shaken. The injured horse fell under the wheel of the grocer's cart, and, though fatally injured, • subsequently rose and galloped away. Later it was captured, and it was found necessary to; immediately destroy the animal.
