TAURANGA REGATTA.

[bt telegraph.— CORRESPONDENT.] TAUHASTGA. Wednesday. A largely-attended meeting of boating men decided to establish a Tauranga Regatta Club and to hold a regatta at Tauranga on Tuesday, December 28, instead of at the Mount as previously, arranged. The following officers were elected — Patron, Sir William Herries; president, Colonel G. A. Ward; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. Chadban, W. Churchill, 3. C. Bobbins and B. Dive; commodorej Mr. G. C. Maltby; executive committee, Messrs. H. T. Castaing. G. E. Bell. F. A. Wilson, C. C. Norn.*, G. W. Henderson, H. E. Yokes, P. Densem, C. F. Oliver and T. Moncur: secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. C. Norris; hon. auditor, Mr. J. H. Griffith*. The canvassing committee reported that a sum of over £100 was assured for the regatta. A programme of nearly 40 event*, compris ing sailing, launch, rowing and swimming races was drawn up and approved. It was decided that £110 be allocated in prize money, the chief event being the race for yachts, which is endowed with £15, conditional on yachts from outsiuo Tauranga Harbour competing. The launch races will be worth £10 and £7 The promoters hope that a number of Auckland yachts .T.d launches will b» among the competitor?.
