SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS.
ASSOCIATION HOLDS REUNION.
A reunion of men who served in the South African campaign was held last evening under the auspices of the Auckland South African Veterans' Association. Mr. T. McNab presided, over an attendance of about 70. A programme of enjoyable musical items was contributed, and speeches were made by various members. Mr. J. F. Jackson, vice-president, said the association, which had been in existence onjy about six months, had a membership of 150. The object of the association was to keep together the men who fought in the South African war, and to foster the spirit of comradeship. The badge of the association, that of a fern leaf, inscribed with the wor<& South Africa, was already becoming familiar in Auckland. As a result of the conference held in Wellington recently all branches were combining and would shortly elect a Dominion executive. Through Major E. G. Fraser, the services of the 3rd, Auckland. Regimental Orchestra had been offered to the association, and it was hoped to hold a concert in aid of the association's- benevolent fund for sick members.
