The correspondent of the Chicago News at Peking states that 30,000,000 persons are affected, by the famine in Northern China, of whom 15,000,000 are in dire distress. The Japanese Embassy at Washington has issued a statement that the Japanese are widely interested in relieving #he famine in China. Schools and universities are contributing funds, and door-to-door collections are being made in Tokio.
