CHALLENGE YACHT RACE

INTERPROVINCIAL' CONTEST.

AUCKLAND AND OTAGO.

ONE-DESIGN CLASS BOATS,

An interprovincial yacht race between boats representing the Provinces of Auckland and Otago is to be held at Auckland during the Easter holidays. The type of boat selected for the race is to conform with the same restrictions as the well-known 14ft. one-design class. The race is the outcome of a challenge received by the Auckland Yacht and Motorboat Association from the Otago Yacht and Motor-boat Club. It is stipulated that three races shall be held to' decide the championship, and that the races may be sailed over one or more courses.,. Fourteen days before the race, each province must declare the name of the boat it intends to enter for the race. The Auckland Yacht and Motor-boat Association, which has accepted the challenge from the Otago Club on behalf of Auckland yachtsmen, has appointed a committee consisting of Messrs. A. I£. Gilford, E. J. Kelly, and J. Boonstra to go into details and carry out the arrangements for the contest.
