LABOUR APPREHENSIVE. VICTORY FOR REACTION. Austr&han and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed 8.30 p.it..) WASHINGTON, No*. 27. Mr. Samuel Gompers, President of the American Federation of Labour, analysing the result of the congressional election, declared that organised Labour had won a victory, since 50 candidates hostile to Labour were defeated and 15 Labour Union members were elected. Mr. Gompers adds that the election generally however, was a victory for the reactionary elements, who now plan an assault upon union Labour with the object of depriving it of its hard-earned gains.
