« TECHNICAL SCHOOL SITE.
[BY TEtSGRAPB.'-OWjr CORRESPONDENT.] WHAKATANE, Thursday. The Chamber of Commerce last night discussed the question of the Technical School site. The School Committee had approached the Domain Board for iO acres of the domain, and had been re- \ fused. The meeting decided to again j approch the board in regard to granting a portion of the domain. It was also ! decided to ask th'o Mayor to cell a public' meeting to discuss the matter- A letter ' from the Postmaster-General, stating that he could not at present comply with the Chamber's request for a direct mail service from Rotorua, as the present con- ' tracts did not expire until the end of! next vear, I At a. meeting of the council- last night ■ it was decided that the inscription on the' lamp monument to be erected shortly! should read (follows :—" Erected by | the citizens of whakatane to the memory I of our brave boys who made the supreme sacrifice in the Great War. 1914-18." It, was resolved to reopen Hinerooa Road, j and connect it with the main road. j
