PETROL FROM AMERICA.
i MR. T. M. WILFOKDS DEAL. The high cost and shortage of petrol in ' New Zealand has occasioned users o? motor-cars and other petrol-driven ma- - chines much concern for a considerable I time past, and it is because of this that ' a statement made recently by Mr. T. 3d. I Wilfcrd, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, i that he had landed benzine in the Dominion at a cost a little ever £1 per casa baa interested them much. At the invi- : tation of the Wellington Automobile Club, ; Mr. WUford attended the annual meeting of members, and he then produced re--1 ceipts to show that he had purchased ! twenty cases of petrol in Califcrnia at 54& : cents per gallon, and had landed it in the Dominion after paying all charges at a total cost of £25. The spirit could be purchased at all service stations in California for 25 cents per gallon. He said he had placed the receipts before the Board of Trade.
