RIFLE-SHOOTING.
AKARANA DEFENCE CLUB. The members of the Akarana Defence '' Rifle Club commenced the first shoot of the J season at 800 yds. and 900 yds. ranges on • Saturday afternoon for prizes presented by ' Lieutenant C. B. Bedford and Messrs. T. jG. Bryan and J B. Torbet to A B and! ' C sections respectively. A strong wind ! j made accurate shooting difficult, and in con- 1 I sequence the scoring was low. Several j i members hare to shoot on Wednesday, and j 1 therefore the highest scorer in each section : on Saturday may not win the prizes that j are given every week in connection with j these competitions.
