MASSED GAMES PROPOSED.

NAVAL INNOVATION. LONDON, Sept. 16. Commander Coote advocates massed football, cricket and boxing in a suggestion to the welfare supervisors of Balliol College, Oxford. " In massed football," he says, " there are simply two goals, and perhaps 100 players divided into two teams. In massed cricket each player gets 12 balls, and each time he is bowled runs are taken off his side. In massed boxing the teams are assembled, and at a signal the boxing begins. When a man is punched on the nose he retires, and the puncher scores a point." Commander Coote started the principle in the Navy, and believes that it is the best of all systems for physical training and recreation.
