WRIT OF HABEAS ~ CORPUS. , • The case in which there «u a dispute between Maoris., over the custody of a five-year-old child, was decided by Mr. Justice Salmond in the Supreme Court yesterday. The circumstances were that when his wife was ill in 1916, the father gave the child into the care of his fosterparents. The father died in 1918, and the foster-parents had refused to hand the child back to the mother.
