Instructions were given, t* the secretary to write to the Prime Min ister further protesting against harboui boards being compelled to collect the de benture tax. The board appointed c special committee to consider the matte; of permanent improvement to the Short land Wharf, plana for which were fur nished by the board's engineer. It w»i reported that plans for the proposed nes wharf at Turua had been sent to th< Marine Department for approval, ane provided for an up-to-date structure wit! tidal landing stage, As soon* as thej were approved and returned, a contra* for the work would be let at once, as al the financial arrangements had been com pleted for carrying out the work. J letter was received from Mr. T. Vv Rhodes, member for. the district, advis ing the board that the Thames Harbou: Empowering Bill bad passed it* fina stage in the House of Representatives. The iubilee anniversary of Lodge o Light, 454, 1.e., is being celebrated to day. A large number of visiters hav< arrived from Auckland and the surround mg districts. The installation and in vestiture cf officers for the ensuing yeai took place at noon in the King's Theatre the lodge-room being found too/small tc accommodate the large number of visit ing brethren who attended. The visiter) were entertained at'dinner in the Miners Union Hall, and the\iubilee celebration! will take place at the King's Theatre thii evening, and will include addresses bj prominent masons. A concert with danc ing and supper will he provided in St James' Hall.
