DEVONPORT BOROUGH.
The Devonport Borough Council "met' last evening. Those present were the Mayor, Mr. H. S. W. King. Messrs. I. J. Letcher. ! 8.-. W. Luxford. W. A. Pilkington, B. A. Spinley, T. Palmer, J. Woodall, and G. V. Pearce. ' ■ •"': * ; The V&uxhall Ratepayers' Association forwarded a protest against the council's decision to Jingo the names .of Old Lake Road and Narrow Keck; Beach, to 'Vauxhau Road and Vauxhall Beach, respectively. .The Mayor stated that the feeling bad- been hi ■ favour of the elimination of the title .ci Narrow Neck, and the Defence Departntsnt had been asked to alter the- came of Nanow Neck Camp to* Vauxhall Camp. Old Lake Road was a continuance, of Vauxhall Bead. The matter was deferred for the consideration by the Ratepayers' Association of the position as explained by the Mayor. - The free distribution of poison for the destruction of rats was agreed to. ..-.~ A deputation from the North Shore Cricket Club waited on tlie council, sitting, as the Domain Board, and asked for favourable ronsiderj&tion - for the preparation of the Domain for the -coming season. It was decided to suggest that the work of preparing the wickets be undertaken by. the crab,. the council to remit the usual playing fas and keep the grass cat in the outfield. •» ; • "Hie scheme submitted by the MarineBoroughs Association for a uniform «aJe of charges for hire of motor-cars in the four North Shore boroughs was approved, with slight alteration.
