ONE TREE HILL ROAD BOARD.
■'» The One Tree Hill Road Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr. H. Dobbie, presiding. There were also present: Messrs. J. Rowe, R. G.. Clark, F. Chapman, R. Cruickshank, and C. Slyfield. A series of deputations occupied the attention of the, board for a considerable time. TJje most serious complaint came from the residents of H&yden Avenue, who were unanimous in their condemnation of the water supply. They stated that for several days during the last week the supply ceased altogether. It was explained that the pipes, which were exceptionally small on this road, had> become corroded. The chairman informed the deputation that the defect would be remedied at once. The question was raised by Mr. F. Chapman whether the Onehunga Borough Council was within its rights in charging the board for scoria supplies from pits at Mount Smart, which is within the boundary of the One Tree Hill Rotd District. The chairman stated that by Act of Parliament, passed in 1877, the Onehung* Borough Council was | given control of these pits. It was decided to procure legal advice, with a view to applying for new legislation, which will give rights~*to One Tree Hill in *hia matter. Messrs. A. and T. Burt's tender of £4295 was accepted for the supply of pipes and fittings for the water supply.
