PILLAGING OF CARGO.
FOUR SEAMEN SENTENCED:
FINE OF £5 EACH IMPOSED.
Three members of the crew of the steamer Ayrshire David Nejlson, William Johnston, and Thomas Youngwho were convicted on September 4 of the theft of four rolls of tweed, valued at £19, the property of the Federal Shire Line, appeared before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday for sentence, as the vessel will be leaving Auckland shortly. Accused were each fined £5, in default two months' , imprisonment. Andrew Ferguson, another seaman, who had been • convicted of the theft of 12 handkerchiefs, valued at 18s,, also came up for sentence. He also was fined £5, j in, default two months., • j
