In accordance "with the direction of the executive of the Seamen's Union & stopwork meeting of seamen was held to hear the report of the delegates who have been attending the conference of.,the Transport Workers' Federation in Sydney '. They explained that trouble had occurred over the internal management of the organisation, and that Mr, Murray, the president, had resigned. Investigation of matters is proceeding. They also explained the proposals of the transport worker's to link up with the seamen, -waterside workers, coalminers and other unions, making the membership of the, new organisation close on forty thousand. It is understood that a resolution was adopted assuring the Transport Workers' Federation of the seamen's willingness to co-operate. * At the close of the meeting the seamen returned to their ships.
SYDNEY, Oct. 5. Shipping was idle for several hours to-day to enable the seamen to attend a stop-work meeting. The greatest secrecy was.maintained, but it is understood that questions relating to the Navigation Act, carrying bunker coal for overseas vessels, financial matters,\ancL the scheme of the Transport Workers' Federation for linking up unions were among the important matters discussed.'
