DANGEROUS DRIVING.
MOTORIST FINED AT HAMILTON. |BT TBXEGBABH. —OWN OOBBESFONDEKV.] HAMILTON, Tuesday. Mistaken identity was the plea unsuccessfully put forward by Andrew McBeath, land agent, when charged before Mr. H. A. Young, S.M-, with driving his motor-car in a manner dangerous to the public. It was shown by the police that a man, said by several witnesses to bear a strong resemblance to Mcßeath, drove his car along "Victoria Street on a certain evening about three months ago so close to the footpath that he knocked over •a motor-cycle standing near the kerb, and about a hundred yards further along " picked up " two cycles leaning against verandah posts, carrying them along on the front of the car for a distance, and running over them. His Worship, after hearing the evidence, was satisfied that Mcßeath was the culprit, and that he drove in a manner dangerous to the public. He fined him £10 and costs £1 Is, and ordered him to pay witness' expenses, amounting to £7. Three months were allowed in which to pay. -•
