FIRE AT FOXTON.

MUNICIPAL CHAMBERS BURNED. [BY telegraph.— pbess ASSOCIATION, j FOSTON, Monday. The Foxton Municipal Chambers were totally destroyed by a fire -which started in the caretaker's quarters at about 9.30 o'clock last night. The council records were saved', but the contents of the public library and reading room were totally destroyed. The contents of the Harbour Board's office and the gas showroom were salvaged. The origin of the fire is a mystery. The caretaker was not on the premises when the outbreak occurred. The building and contents were insured in the State Office for £1025. The building was erected about 14 years ago. It is estimated that the loss is £2000.
