ALLIANCE OF LABOUR.
THE COMING CONFERENCE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Monday. An industrial conference under the auspices of the New Zealand Alliance of Labour is to be held in Wellington on November 9, for the purpose of considering the best method to be adopted to group unaffiliated organisations • into industrial departments, as laid down in the constitution of the alliance. All national industrial unions and federations of workers have been invited to be represented, and it is anticipated that as a result of the conference the organisation of the Alliance of Labour will be considerably enlarged. The bodies at present affiliated, with the affiance consist of transport workers (seamen, drivers tramwaymen and the Amalgamated Society of Railway Workers), Miners' Federation and workers in the iron industry. A proposal to be placed before the forthcoming coherence will b e that labour generally should org-in-se along the lines of industiy. as apart from separate sectional craft or trades una ps, the various bodies being grouped into departments and havin~ a voice on the National Council.
