Major E. H. Macdonald, son of Mrs. A. V. Macdonald, of Remuera, has been created an officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services in the Afghan campaign. Major Macdonald who formerly was an officer in the 3rd' Auckland, Regiment, went to England and joined the Imperial Army as a second lieutenant in the South Lancashire Regiment early in 1914. He was then drafted to India, and during the war was mentioned in despatches on three occasions. He is at present stationed at . Peshawar, North-west India. > '
