A consignment of yearling perch,' purchased by the Tauranga Acclimatisation Society from the ."Hawera Acclimatisation Society, arrived yesterday morning, for liberation in the streams in various parts of the Tauranga County. A number of streams here are considered to be suitable for perch. Prices for town; and suburban properties continue to soar. During the past week various - areas up to. twenty acres, from three - to five miles from - the post office, and served by. the electricity and waterworks systems-, have -changed ownership, at from £300 to £500 per acre. AH these properties' have good buildings on them, but the, prices show remarkable advances on those ruling three months ago.; Two areas in the borough were subdivided, and the allotments were practically all sold in a few days at good figures. The gates which are to be erected at the entrance to the Katikati Domain, in memory of the men from that district who fell in the war, have arrived in Tauranga, and are to be sent, on -to Katikati in a day or two. The gates are of neat design, in wrought; iron. Two marble slabs,'bearing the names of those "who fell, have also been ordered. . 's t ~ • , At a meeting of the Businessmen's Association it was unanimously agreed to communicate, with, owners of property in the main street, residing ij* Auckland and other places,, asking them to contribute to the salary of a night-watchman, it being contended that the tatter's, services are a protection .to .all owners of shop property. .-..-.. Plans for substantia] and up-to-date premises for the Bank of New Zealand on the old mart site at the corner, of Wharf and .Willow Streets, are now- under consideration. It is expected that the work will be put in hand at an early date.
