THE WEATHER.
MR. C. L. WRAGGE'S FORECAST. Although the weather in Auckland has been fine for the past two weeks, vessels arriving here report that the conditions along the coast are very severe. A strong north-east wind was blowing yesterday, and a fairly heavy sea was running. The schooner Jubilee, bound from Niue Island _to Auckland, put into Mangonui on Friday for shelter owing to the heavy weather. The Maheno, which was expected to reach Auckland this morning from Sydney, forwarded a wireless message yesterday to the effect that she would not arrive until seven o'clock this evening. It is presumed that she has been delayed on the voyage by rough weather. The following weather forecast was issued by Mr. Clement L. Wragge at 8 p.m. yesterday:—"The Antarctic depression Yeleth, which, at the normal rate of travel of these disturbances, is a week overdue, eeems to be arriving at last, and a change now appears imminent. The falling barometer with a northerly wind today is a significant sign. Consequently, we may expect unsettled and rainy weather in manv parts of the country, with a wind veering toward north-west and west later The recent persistency of the high pressure system forms a striking feature in the meteorological annals of the Dominion Sea moderate, but rising on the west coast later."
