"SAVE THE CHILDREN" FUND.
APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC.
The Executive Committee of the Auckland " Have the Children" Fund, met in the Town Hall council chamber yesterday. TJio chairman of the committee, Mr. H. P. Caughoy. presided, and there also were present the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Ounaon, Rev. W. G. Monekton, Messrs. A. 8. Bankart, Jas. Buttle, J. \V. Court, and (J. H. Fleming. A telegram was received from the Internal Affairs Depart- ! hient, (itating that the Minister had deI cided to grant a permit for the making : of a general appeal in the Auckland disi trict in aid of the fund for relieving the j distress among the women and children : in the famine-stricken areas of Central Europe. It was stated that the Minister ; would not' sanction bazaars, art unions, or j street collections in connection with the ,appeal, H was resolved that an appeal, in the terms of the Minister's message, be launched next Monday, and that it "he continued until June 30. Arrangements have been mado to remit the money to JViOndon free of cost, through the Internal j Affairs Department, to the High Commissioner, who wi'l attend to tha distribution of the fund. It also was decided to ask I the Minister to appoint a Government auditor to audit the accounts on the com- ; pletion of the campaign. A meeting of the Genernl Committee will be held in I the Town Ila'.l council chamber at 12 15 I p.m. on Thursday.
