ing with regard to the in: uenzi epidemic in Waihi. They said that as- fat as they could ascertain the disease was spreading rather Cmi declining. ™";ey suggested that the authoritieu should take more difini'a steps to combat the outbreak, which had re-, suited in the loss of one life ■ffiiri' might possibly have been saved if --he circumstance* of the case had been reported to the Hospital Board, the Mayor, or the union. They were also of opinion that the public schools had been prematurely opened, and should again he closed, as one of the measures towards bringing about- an abatement of the epidemic. The Mayor, in reply, said the necessary steps would be taken in the direction desired by the deputation with a view to combating the spread of the epidemic, which was certainly assuming serious proportions.
