INFLUENZA NOTIFIED.
THIRTY-EIGHT NEW CASES. Thirty-eight' cases of influenza, including three severe, were reported to the Auckland district health officer during the 24 hours ended at neon yesterday. The severe cases were reported from Hikutaia, Kerepeeni,' and Paeroa. The mild % cases were distributed as follows City 2, suburbs 4. country districts 3, Thames 6, Hikutaia 9, Waihi 11. POSITION AT WAIHI. [by telegraph.— correspondent.] ■WAIHI, Tuesday. From Tuesday, April 27, to May 31 a total of 70 cases of influenza were reported to the local health officer. In three or four instances the cases were of a severe type, and in one case the patient died. There was also a death on the Waihi Plains. CASE REPORTED ON STEAMER. [BY telegraph.— association.] CJIRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. A seaman from the steamer Canopus was removed to the Chrisichurch hospital to-day, suffering from influenza. Other members of the vessel's crew are beinc kept ashore until their quarters have been thoroughly fumigated.
