DEVONPORT ORPHANS' CLUB.
OPENING OF ELEVENTH SESSION.
Th<> Devonport Orphan's Club opened its eleventh annual session en Saturday evening in the Masonic Hall, Devonport.
Greetings and wishes for continued success were received from the Auckland Savage Club, Auckland Orphans' Club, and the Hamilton Orphans' Club.
Prior to installing Mr. J. R. Bray as president, Mr. James Armstrong, the retiring president, paid a tribute to the honorary services as conductor of the dub's' orchestra, rendered for several years past by Mr. Francis Gribbin, whose resignation n' t.he position they all regretted. The club had been fortunate in inducing Mr. Whalley Stewart to accept appointment. t An enjoyable musical programme was given, songs being contributed by Messrs Duncan Black, ■:,. Tarr, 1). M. Russell L. Dellow, Pegg. J. Simpson, F. C.' Bourke, and the New Zealand Quartette, a violin, solo by Mr. w. Lighton, and a piccojo solo by Mr. Forrest. Tho club's orchestra played several selections. Mr. Lea. Eliiott acted ttfe accompanist.
