The Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, by 10 votes to 9, rejected a resolution endorsing the claim for Irish independence, EXPRESSION BY THE POPE. HER "LEGITIMATE" RIGHTS. A. and N.Z. ROME, May 27. The Pope, attended by Cardinal Logue, Archbishop of 'Armagh, received 400 Irish Bilgrims who visited Rome in connection •with the beatification of Archbishop Oliver Jlrnkett. In the course of the audience fee Pope said the beatification occurred •1 a time when Ireland, more than ever, needs* the help of Heaven to attain what legitimately belonged to her.
