NO CLAIM TO MILLION.
THE FIELD ROMANCE
MONEY GOES TO, "LEGAL" ISSUE. Miss Peggy Marsh'n. threevear-old son Tony, according to a United Stake legal decision, cannot inherit his father's interest in the Field millions. Tfcjs acton as already stated was btt*:£* to have the trill of the late Mr. Marshall Field construed. One of the provision... of the will, was that a trust fund of -31,000,000 slwuld be established the interest from which should go to his grandchildren, one of whom was Tony's father, the late Mr. Henry Field. Mr. Dunne sought to obtain for Tony the right to benefit to the same extent as his father had. The case hinged on the terms "issue" and "legal issue," both of which were used in the will. He argued before Judge Sullivan in the Superior Court at Chicago, that Mr. Marshall Field evidently intended to make provision for the illegitimate as well as the legitimate children of his grand-children. With this Judge Sullivan disagreed, declaring that the case must be decided on the law as it exists, and referring to the evident pride of testator in his name He ordered the £400,000 share of Mr. Henry Field to be div'ded between the other grandchildren, the present Mr. Marshall Field and bis sister Gwendolen. The legal representstivec, of the former j announced that he will turn over at least a large part, if not the wholo, of his share to Mrs. Nancy Perkins Held, niece of Viscountess .Astor, who, with the exception of the £3.200 in personal property of her husband, has so far received nothing from the Field estate. ° t Tony's father, when he left Eton, joined the R.N. Armoured Car Corps in 1915. While he was on active service Miss Marsh left the stage. Then Mr. Field was called home to .America, and soon afterwards his engagement to' Miss Nancy King Perkins, a niece of Dana I Gibson, the artist, was announced. He died in 1917,* four months after his marriage to Miss Perkins, who has also since died. His thoughts appear to have been constantly w ; th Peegy Marsh and his little son, and after his death his brother, following out his instructions, established for her benefit a trust fund of £20,000.
