"WORK TO RULE "STRIKE.
A FAILURE IN LONDON. IGNORED BY RAILWAYMEN. A. and N.Z. LONDON, May 2. "The railwayman's ''work to' rule" threat was noj. carried' out. in London, except among a few extremist*.' Good staffs were present at Padditigton and Euston sta tions, and an overwhelming majority, particularly men engaged on the suburban and underground lines, seemed determined to accelerate ' the service. The threat also proved a fiasco in the provinces. All the main-line twins arrived and departed from the London termini punctually. It is believed that the railwaymen recognise that ca' canny methods are unpopular, and merely prejudice the wages negotiations of their executive. A conference of South Wales railwaymen "reaffirmed their decision to institute a " work-to-rule" strike on May 3, until, a weekly minimum wage of £6 is granted.
