Oates, of Morrinsville, was returning . from Motumaoho when the steering gear failed at the top of the Motumaotio Hill. Before Mr. Oates could stop the car it swerved into a bank, and wr.g capsized. Of the occupants, Miss Cherfie, and a young son of Mr. Oates, who were in the hack seat. were thrown .clear, and escaped injury. Mr. Oates and his little daughter were pinned under the car. and were'extricated by passers-by, after considerable difficulty, Mr. Oates was severely bruised about the legs, and received several cats. The little grl was riot injured. The far was considerably damaged. An extraordinary accident occurred in rhaulls Street. Morrinsville on Thursrray. A motor-car, owned and driven by Mr. T. Mitchie. of Tahvrroa. was proceeding into town when a dog ran across the road and collided with the motor. The car swerved, and struck the kerbing. turned over- on its side and fell across the footpath. The occupants, of whom there were several, were thrown clear and escaped unhurt. The axle of the car was bent, ind other damage was done. A painful accident befell Mr. W. Parsons, of Morrinsville. on his farm on Hamilton Road on Friday. He 'was. about, to mount his horse when the .animal was startled. Mr. Parsons was thrown to the yround with his foot caught in the stirrup.
