Prime. Minister in the settlement <>f their dispute with the owners of racej horses ai.d the racing clubs were informed to-day tint Mr. Massey had telegraphed to the chairman <>f the Racing Conlerence, Sir George Clifford, inquiring if there was any objection to the dispute with the i clubs being referred to Mr. I*. Hally. The dispute between 'the jockeys and the owners is being considered by Mr. Hallv at the present time, hut there are tech meal difficulties about including the racing clubs. The clubs do not employ the jockeys though they virtually control the working conditions of the riders. ALLEGATIONS BY JOCKEYS. THREATS OF VICTIMISATION. The jockeys' dispute was the subject of a telegram sent by the secretary to the New Zealand Jockeys' Association, Mr. (". ('. Sheath, to the' Minister for labour. Mr. \V. F. Massey, yesterday. The tele gram was as follows:— " I'tider section 7 of.the Labour Disputes Act, the time for settlement of our dispute has almost expired. The* chances of .-on ciliation are being seriously endangered bv the action of certain employers threatening members of my assoi iati«n with severe punishments if they do not resign from the association. 1 sincerely hope that com plete action will he immediately taken bv your Department. I would ask von to kindly notify at once all jockevs through the Press Association that thev have nothing to fear by remaining members nf the Jockeys' Association. I feel assured that a warning from you to owners and trainers that victimisation is killing al] chance of settlement will be effective'.
