♦ [ VISITING PLANTERS DEATH. [BY TELEGRAPH. —TRESS ASSOCIATION. J PALMERSTOX NORTH. Tuesday. An inquest was held to-day into the I death of John David Robertson, whose , body was found on Saturday night in the ra : lway yard terribly rr.uu!at*d. i Evidence was given by Edwin Harvey , Andews, engine driver, to the effect that he was driving a shunting engine at seven o'clock on Saturday evening, when the ' fireman said, '* Stop the engine. We have ' run over a man." Investigating the de- . ceased's bodv, they found that it was then cold. In the witness' opinion the 1 deceased had bean struct by trucks. ' Benfell, the fireman on tie engine, said ' he saw a truck on Sunday in the yard > which bore traces of blood on the wheels. ' The police evidence showed that from ! the deceased's passport, which arrived in » the Dominion by the Manuka on March 8, he was described as a planter or merchant. The passport was issued in the > Straits Settlements. A verdict was returned that the deceased was killed by a row of trucks, , no blame being attachable to anyone.
