MOTOR-CAR OVERTURNS

ONI- OCCUPANT, KILLED.. THROWN- THROUGH WIND-SCREEN. [BY ' TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] CHBJSTCHDRCH, Friday. A motor accident, in which Eric Lyford, aged 26 years, was killed, and Walter Gibson suffered severe head wounds., occurred at Kftikoura this evening. The car concerned «as rounding a bend when the rear right tyro burst and the car swerved over the side of the road into a depression. The right fore-wheel collapsed, and the car overturned, but righted itself again. The- occupants were thrown through the wind-screen. They both got un, but after walking about 15yds Lyford collapsed and Gibson fell unconscious. On the arrival of a doctor Lyford was dead. Deceased, who was manager of the Hopuka dairy factory, had accepted a lift from Gibson. He leaves a widow and two children.
