FOOTBALL BEFORE WORK
COMPLAINTS OF EMPLOYERS. INDUSTRIES SUFFERING. (Received 7.45 p.m.) United Service. LONDON, Jan. 18Employers are complaining that the football craze is completely dislocating important industries. Forty thousand people witnessed the cuptie match, Sunderland v. Hull, which was held in the middle of the week. Of this number nine-tenths were artisans. Some of the shipyards and engineering works were completely closed despite threats of the dismissal of absentees. It is estimated that the day's loss in wages and output in Sunderland alone was £50,000. ,
