EXPORT OF APPLES.
CONDITIONS OF SHIPMENT. THE GOVERNMENT GUARANTEE. The conditions under which the space for the export of 100,000 cases of apples has rbeen secured by the New Zealand Government will be made available have been stated .by the Director of Horticulture, Mr. T. W. Kirk, in a letter to the Nelson Provincial Fruitgrowers' Council. Mr. Kirk states that a Government allowance not exceeding 2s 9d a case will be made under the following heads Cost of cases, including making and nails, packing, wood wool end paper, shed expenses, shipping charges or company's commission for selling, accounting, bill of lading, export entry, etc In making claims at this end, if any, each item must be specified. New Zealand charges will be computed from the time the fruit is placed on rail, or at tho usual shipping port, and will include wharfage and rail or steamer freight to the shipping port. Insurance, freight, and all other subsequent charges will be allowed. The Government guarantee of Id per lb neb will cover fruit on consignment to approved destinations. The fruit must be packed in Government standard cases, graded, packed and branded in accordance with the proposed export regulations. Shipments must be made during March, April, or May. The varieties of apples approved for export to the Northern Hemisphere under the Government guarantee are s,s follow :— Gravenstein, Golden Pippin, Worcester Pearmain, Cox's Orange, Willie Sharp, Ribston Pippin, Jonathan, Reinette du Canada, Adams' Pearmain, Purlin's Beauty, Delicious, Esopns Spitzenberg, Dunn's Favourite (Munro's), Scarlet Nonpareil, Scarlet Pearmain, London Pippin (Five Crown), Cleopatra, Yollow Newtown Pippin, Rome Beauty, Statesman, Sturmen, and such other varieties as are approved by the Director of Horticulture.
