ACUTE CEMENT SHORTAGE.

BUILDING WORK SUSPENDED. [by TKLEGBATII. —PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] WELLINGTON, Tuesday. There is still a marked shortage of cement in Wellington. The market was bare to-day, and there is small chance of fresh supplies arriving this week. Since the acute shortage prior to Christmas, the situation has not improved in the least. The holidays have intervened, and the works had closed down for a week in cases where they had coal to continue burning. Where they had no coal, it was impossible to manufacture cement. At the present time, therefore, when men ard prepared to resume work, operations on dozens of buildings in the city have had to be suspended.
