MARKETS AND MONEY.
MR. H. BEAUCHAMP'S VIEWS.
REQUISITIONED WOOL PROFITS.
A sanguine view of the market prospects in Great Britain, Europe, and the United States for New Zealand's primary products is taken by Mr. Harold Beauchamp, chairman of directors of the Bank of New Zealand, who was in Auckland yesterday. The outlook in these operations', said Mr. Beauchamp, wag most roseate.
While in London he discussed with the High Commissioner tbo question of the delay on the part of the Imperial Government in accounting to growers of New Zealand and Australian wool for the surplus profits on requisitioned wool, which was not required for army purposes, and was sold in the open market. Sir Thomas Mackenzie assured him that he was doing his utmost to bring about a settlement. The excuse of the British authorities was that the adjustment was most difficult and laborious to make. Mr. Beauchamp said he failed to see why it should be, as it was all a matter of accountancy. | With regard to the money market, Mr. ' Beauchamp thinks the colonies' must look forward to anient of dear money, especially in Europe and the United State*. " It will," he remarked, "be interesting to sec how long it will bo before there will be a reflex action in this Dominion, which, owing to the very large surplus of exports over imports during the past six or seven years, has continued in such a delightful and enviable position of financial ea6e."
