Admiral Lord Beatty, in an interview, s*id that owing to the reduc- , tion in the naval personnel 20,000 long service naval men, who had fought gallantly in the war were now unemployed and suffering distress, despite their pensions. Lord Beatty gives details of the brave deeds of several men whose i families are practically starving. \ ' He points out that skilled mechanics, : electricians and engineers are 3an- | v dicaoped in seeking employment by I. tie trades union bar regarding apfjj prenticeship. He suggests that the I bar should not be applied to them § and appeals to employers to give discharged naval men an opporK tunity of earning a living.
