COAL FOR AUCKLAND.
SUPPLIES FROM NEWCASTLE.
VERY LITTLE IN SIGHT.
There is very little coal in sight for Auckland at present. The Kaitangata is expected to complete discharge to-day of the 2600 tons which she brought from Newcastle. The barquentine Laura, which arrived from Newcastle on Saturday, has 526 tons to discharge. The Rakanoa, due from Newcastle to-day, is bringing about 2600 tons. She is the only collier en route to Auckland. The Kaitangata is to leave Auckland this afternoon for Newcastle to load another cargo of coal. It will be about 16 days before she returns. The only other vessel that is booked to load for Auckland is the six-masted barquentine E. R. Sterling. She is at present in port, and will not leave until the end of this month. She will go to Sydney to discharge timber before going to Newcastle to load. Consequently it will be the end of February at the earliest before she can arrive back at Auckland.
