AUCKLAND COMMITTEE'S PLEDGE. Resolution passeel unanimously November 10, 1919:— " While opposed to the principle of State Control, in the event of Prohibition being carried at the next poll, we undertake not to oppose any amending legislation should a substantial body of public opinion favour an amendment making the issues Continued Prohibition, or some simple inexpensive form of State Control—a bare majority to decide—provided there is a reasonable interval (saynot less than three years) between the I forthcoming poll and the poll which would be subsequently taken." W. H. HINTOX. Secretary. Strike out the two top lines and give Prohibition a trial. Why pay £15,000.000 for State Control when New Zealand can get it for nothing in three years' time if the people so decide.— (Advt.) l
