CARE OF THE COMPLEXION.
For the girl who adores a clear skin and hi** it not, diet plays a most important part; it comes, in fact, next in importance to cleanliness. A clear skin with a dash of scarlet in either cheek, not the scarlet that comes out of a box and rubs off at inconvenient times, but a pair of genuine pink cheeks which glow with a living colour is the —and naturally soof every woman. And the secret o"f that possession is this: Drink hot water! Hot enough to sip slowly. Hot water internally Is of the greatest help to hot water externally as applied in the face baths, water externally as applied in the face It cleanses. It stimulates the action of stomach and bowels, increasing the elimination process and helping to rid the body of all injurious deposits. Try drinking a small glass of hot water before breakfast, two or three times duiing the day, if possible, and before going to bed. If hot water produces undue fatigue during the hottest weather, drink it cold rather than give it up altogether. All highly seasoned and indigestible foods tend to cause a blotchy, pimply skin. Hence the reasonable deduction that the maiden who sacrifices herself in the cause of beauty must curb her desire for such things as sweet*, rich cakes and French pastries, highly seasoned savouries, pickles, lobster, and what not! She must make up her mind to develop a liking for simpler things, live plainly and hygieni-c-ally, eat plenty of fruit, particularly orange,; and grapes whenever they are obtainable ; take as much exercise in the open air as possible, and soon she will be a pink and white beauty with pimple »a thing of the past.
