x FORMATION" OF COMPANY. A company was formed yesterday afternoon, at a meeting held in the office of Messrs. Gilfillan and Gentles, to work tho St. Hippo claim, comprising a portion of the old May Queen area at Thames. It was decided to call the company the St. ! j Hippo Gold Mining Company (no-liability), ! the capital to be £6500. divided into 130,000 I shares of Is each. The following were elected directors:—Messrs. J. M. Agnew. iW. Eddowes. W. J. Rainger. and A. G. Graham. Mr. H. Gilfillan was appointed secretary. WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. The following information, has been cabled to the head oifice in London of the Waihi t Grand Junction Gold Company, Limited: — No. -1 Level.-— Mary Lode The east drive has been advanced to 640 ft. In the .croftscut at 634 ft the reef is lift wide. The first 6ft 6in assay is 18s Id per ton; the next 2ft is country rock, and the next 2ft 6iu assay £1 8s per ton. No. 5 —Mary Lode: No. 7 rise has advanced to 95ft. From 75ft to 90feet the average width ie 34ft and the 'average value 12s per ton. Breaking out from 230 ft to 260 ft. the average width la 55ft and the average value £i 16s 9d per ton The main north-west crosscut has been advanced to 1198 ft. No. 8 Level.—Empire Lode: No. 8 winze has been sunk to 45ft. From 30ft to 42ft me average width is 3*tt. and the value £2 Is 3d per ton. MINE MANAGER'S REPORT. Waitangt.—A further sft has been driven on the main reef at No. 1 level. Most of : the reef in the drive 13 still muilocky, but cart of it is showing an improvement, a band of about 12in being clean ore. At ' No. 2 level another 'Ift has been driven, the , reef being still of a. very favourable appear- : I ance and showing nice minerals. j
