TWO, MEN FINED £10. [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN COUBESPOJtDENT.J WAIHI. Friday. A coal dealer, C. Y. Cole, and a worker at the railway station named E. Herbert were charged at the Magistrate's Court to-day with the theft of, coal belonging to the Waihi District Hospital. For the defence, it was stated that the coal had only been borrowed by the dealer because of the immediate shortage in his household supplies, and that it Was his : ntcntion to replace the quantity taken when bis own truck loads came to hand. The magistrate, however, ' was not satisfied with the explanation. Convictions were recorded, and fines of £10, with costs, were inflicted in each case.
