RED CROSS WORK.

DECISIONS OF THE EXECUTIVE.

A meeting of the joint committee of the Auckland branch of the British Red Cross and the Auckland Centre of the Order of St. John was held yesterday, the Hon. Geo. Fowlds presiding. A report of the executive meeting held last week at Wellington was presented by Mr. C. F. Bickford. The report stated that a resolution was carried requesting His Excellency the Governor-General to confer with the director-general of medical services, Surgeon-General D. J. McGavin, regarding the provision of colonies for tubercular patients. The matter of the contribution of funds for the provision of food for the starving children of Europe was also considered, and it was decided that, provided the approval of the Minister for Internal Affairs be obtained, £5000 be forwarded from the general fund of the organisation to the Red .Commisoner in Great Britain to be handed to the proper authorities. The GovernorGeneral was requested to confer with the Solicitor-General as to the legality of such a course. It was agreed that the society contribute the sum of £150 toward the erection of a lecture hall at Kamo banatorium.
