UNITED STATES AND JAPAN. AUSTRALIA WATCHING. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Nov. 28. Sir Joseph Cook, Minister for the Commonwealth Navy, referring to Pacific policy, said although everything was apparently quiet, Australia could not close her eyes to the preparations heing made by Japan and the United States in furtherance of their Pacific policy. The United States was building battlesh'ps as fast as they could be turned out. Japan had launched the largest battleship in the world, and was building eight others.
