HALF-YEARLY DIVIDEND. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 28. The half-yearly profit of the Bank of New South Wales to September 30 is £302,425, and a dividend of 10 per cent, has been declared.

CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The demand for potatoes is quite over, there being no inquiry and no disposition on part of merchants to buy. There is a keen demand for Garten oats, A grade selling at up to 5s at country stations, while B's are worth 4s 9d to 4s lOd. Duns are also in firm demand at recent rates, and Algerians are also worth 4s' 9d to 5s at country stations. The demand for chaff continues firm, and £7 to £7 15s is readily on offer for good heavy oaten-sheaf. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, Nov. 28. Oats.Feeding, 5s 6d to 5s 8d; milling, 5s lid. Barley; English, 5s 6d to 6s; Cape 5s Id to 5a 3d. Maize, Bs. Potatoes, £16. Onions, £9 10s. BRADFORD WOOL MARKET. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Nov. 27. The Bradford market is firm. Top makers are not anxious to sell Merinos and fine crossbreds. A good demand continues for lower sorts. MELBOURNE HIDE MARKET. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, Nov. 28. Hides are very firm, and have improved a farthing all round. . I PROPERTY SALES. ! Richard Arthur, Ltd., will sell on the ground, Onslow and Atherton Road, Epsom, at 3 p.m. to-day 12 large building sites in the Mount Royal Estate. The property is handy to two lines of cars, and commands a good view. It is being offered on exceptionally easy terms. FRUIT AND PRODUCE MARKETS. Mr. J. Joneß, auctioneer. "On the Corner," New City Market, reports sales as follows:— We penned a record number of poultry at yesterday's sale, and values lor any birds on tne light side were considerably lower. White .begh irn hens and Indian Runner ducks: Market heavily supplied:, and prices trom previous quotations were easier. Any heavy breeds of fowls market rates very firm. For good heavy kill able birds the campetition was keen. 'Young roosters, turkeys, and heavy hens are in strong demand. High prices were realised for over 1000 head of extra heavy hens and young prime roosters. Pigs: Market easier. New Potatoes: Market lower. Butter and Eggs: Market firm. Fruit: Market good. Grain Market: All grain has an upward tendency. We quote: — Hens, extra prime, heavy. 8s to 8s 6d. Messrs *• E. Turner and Sons, Ltd., re- ' port: — Fruit.—We sold large lines of fruit to-day prices realised for everything being very satisfactory indeed. Strawberries, which have been slightly lower during the past week, have firmed up at to-day's sale. , Ripe bananas sold for 17b 6d per case, second quality to SOs, for good quality; Island oranges 25s' per case, Sydney 18s to 255; gooseberries have fallen slightly during the week, and >he values are ranging from 5s 6d to 8s; early plums, 63 6d to 8s per case; local lemons, second quality 12s to 14s. first grade 17b to 20s per case; local hothouse tomatoes are coming forward in large first grades realising, from Is 3d to Is 7Jd per lb, poorer qualities 8d to Is 2d; Island pines, repacks, 21s to 22s 4>d per case; Loquats: Larger quantities of this fruit are coming forward, and consequently prices have fallen, best lines realising from 6s 6d to 7s 6d per case; poorer qualities, 5s 6d to 6s. Pears are practically dune, and only some medium quality were on the market, which realised 18s to 20s per case. Canardian Apples: Jonathans, 26s to 27s 6d;' Mcintosh Red, 24s to 265; Winter Snows, 22s 6d to 24s 6d; Stunners, prime 18s to 20s. medium 12s to 15s. A few local cherries have come to hand, and realised from lOd to Is 3d per lb, .price for these being a little on the low side on account of a shipment of Sydney cherries which came forward earlier in the week, and which are much better quality, naturally reducing the demand for . local cherries. Passion fruit are very scarce, prime lines being worth 25s per case. Bananas are beginning to get scarce, as the last shipment by the •Talune was very small; consequently there are not many to be had at present. Produce. potatoes are coming forward in very large quantities, and the price is _ naturally easier, 2d per lb being top price for extra prime. Rhubarb is very scarce, and bringing up to 8s 6d per dozen; hothouse cucumbers up to 12s per dozen. The market for cauliflower and cabbage is on the low side at present, as also it is for lettuce. Poultry.—Roosters, heavy 7s 6d to 9s 6d. medium 4s to 6s 6d: hens, extra heavy 8s 6d to 9s Bd. light 4s to 7s Ed; ducks, 3s 6d to 6s 6d: ducklings. Is 6d to 3s; chicks. 9d to Is sd; turkey . gobblers, 20s to 255; turkey hens, 10s to 15s; geese, 4s 6d to 83. Only heavy birds fit for the butcher in keen demand, other lines are not generally sought after. I Dairy Produce.—Butter, Is 4d to Is sd. ; per lb; eggs, 2s 3d to 2s 44d per dozen; i honey, in comb. 6d to 8d per lb.
Messrs. A. B. Donald, Ltd.. report as follows: —A busy week Las been the result, with excellent supplies of all qualities of fruit coming forward. Strawberries, with the exception of two days during the week, realised highly satisfactory prices, and at yesterday's sale exceptionally high rates ruled. On Tuesday we sold a. shipment of Sydney fruit, which arrived by the Maheno, and all arrived in good condition and reached a bare market. The cherries and cucumbers were exceptionally choice, and found ready buyers. Gooseberries have been coming in freely, and consequently prices have eased. Bananas are scarce, and good samples are selling at extreme rates, Friday's values being 33s for choice grades, while 20s ruled for seconds. Hothouse tomatoes sell at good prices, and Island tomatoes, ex the Flora, are finished. Produce is still on the low side., and prices were even lower than last week. Apples nave firmed considerably, both choice local and American, the former selling from 203 to 21s, and the latter 25s to 26s 6d. We quote as under: — Strawberries. Laxtons Is' 9d. Island 255, Sydney 17s 6d to 18s 6d, Americans firm at 45s 6d; lemons, American 375, local 16s to 17s 3d; bananas, firsts 335, seconds 20s; cherries, Sydney 14s to 15s 6d a bos. local 6.-I to 61d lb; cucumbers, 23s to 24s Gd a case; pines, Fiji 21s, Rarotonjra 17s 6d to 18s; kumeras, 3d lb. Apples, American 25s 6d; local, Sturmers 21s. Dougherty IBs. Asparagus, Is 3d to Is 3sd per bundle (Hastings); peas, Is 3d ft peck; beans, Is 8d; onions, American 30s; potatoes, lid to lid, others lid; tomatoes. Is 2td to Is 3d.
