WIN FOR GRAMMAR SCHOOL.
EIGHT WICKETS TO SPARE.
The challenge cricket match between King's College and Grammar School, holders, for the Heath cote-Williams Shield, was concluded at Eden Park yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Grammar School by eight wickets and seven runs. The weather was dull, but the wicket was in good order. When play ceased on Thursday, Grammar School had made 118 runs in their fissj; innings, and King's College 140. The latter in tneir second venture had three wickets down tor 65, Gee being one, not out. Heard, followed, and witnout lurtuer addition to tne score, ftadeiey scattered f miip s wickets, .keegan joined Heard, only to see the latter oowied by Posties wnen a bye and a single had been obtained. Jiddowes then partnered Keegan and, mostly by singles, the score mounted to 127, when Pobt.es bowled the latter. Johnston followed, and when seven runs had been added, Lddowes attempted to lift fosties over the boundary, and was clean bowled. Caughey was tne next OaUm;,en, and after maKing a couple of singles he was dismissed in a simi.ar manner, the total being then 136. Cox, the last man, was bowled by Postles with his second ball, the score being unaltered. Grammar School required 159 runs to win, and they commenced their second innings ten minutes before the luncheon adjournment, Bade'ey and Dunning openng the batting. The score was 11 for no wickets when the interval arrived. Resuming, the total was raised to 27 before Dunning put one to Philips in the sips. Postles followed, and the score was 62 when Badeley lifted the ball to Keegan at square leg, and he held it.- Stretton joined Post'es, and a great dispay of batting followed, the total being 165 for the loss of two wickets when stumps were drawn, at 4.10 p.m., Postles and Stretton being not out with 58 and 56 runs respectively.
